San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy and wide receiver Ricky Pearsall will not play in the team’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
Purdy suffered a toe injury and Pearsall suffered a knee injury.
Backup quarterback Mac Jones, listed as questionable on the injury report, is expected to start for the 49ers. Jones was injured in last week’s final overtime win against the Los Angeles Rams and has been limited in practice all week, but should be ready to play according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.

Purdy, 25, first injured his toe in the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks. He missed the next two games and returned to play against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 4, but the injury re-aggravated and he missed last week’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.
Purdy, who signed a five-year, $265 million extension in the offseason, will miss San Francisco’s sixth game due to injury in its last 13 games since last season.
While the 49ers certainly miss Purdy, they haven’t missed a beat, going 3-0 in Jones’ start.

The 27-year-old has completed 66.7% of his passes for 905 yards in three games with six touchdowns and one interception.
Jones is one of two quarterbacks to pass for at least 900 yards and six touchdowns in 2021 with the Rams, along with Matthew Stafford, to win their first three starts in the franchise.

But for the second week in a row, Jones won’t be able to pitch to Pearsall. Jauan Jennings, one of Jones’ top targets, is listed as questionable after sitting out last week’s game with ankle and rib injuries.
The 49ers (4-1) will face the Buccaneers (4-1) on Sunday at 4:25 PM ET.
