NFL news: Chiefs, Kenneth Walker III agree to deal

The Kansas City Chiefs have reportedly made one of the first major splashes in free agency in the NFL.

The Chiefs and Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III reached an agreement on Monday, according to multiple reports. Walker joining the Chiefs will certainly improve their chances of returning to the playoffs after a 6-11 season.

Walker had a breakout year in 2025, helping the Seattle Seahawks to their second Super Bowl title. He rushed for 1,027 yards and five touchdowns as he and Zach Charbonnet dominated the backfield and bolstered Sam Darnold’s passing game.

In Super Bowl LX, Walker helped Seattle edge the New England Patriots. He rushed for 135 yards and caught two touchdowns in the 29-13 victory. He became the first running back to honor this honor since Terrell Davis won the award for the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXXII.

Kansas City needs help in the running back area. Isiah Pacheco, Kareem Hunt, Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Damien Williams were on duty in previous years, but injuries overshadowed the team’s success in this area.

The Chiefs ranked 25th in rushing yards in the 2025 season.

As of now, Charbonnet will be the first running back on the depth chart alongside George Holani and Kenny McIntosh.
