NFL news: Chiefs’ Travis Kelce gets tangled with Broncos defender

Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce had a heated moment with Denver Broncos linebacker Ja’Quan McMillian in the second quarter on Sunday.

Kelce made his second catch of the game and helped the Chiefs score their first score on a 10-yard catch. It took several Broncos players to take down Kelce; Among them was McMillian, who went over the top and landed on the tight end’s chest.

When Kelce stood up, he and McMillian were facing each other. Back in their own meetings, some expletives appeared to be being shared. At the time, Kelce had two catches for 14 yards, but it was becoming difficult for the Chiefs’ offense to penetrate the Broncos’ defense.

Kansas City ended the drive with a field goal by Harrison Butker. The match ended in a 6-6 draw.

Kelce has quietly had one of the best starts to the season among tight ends through 10 weeks. He had 41 catches for 540 yards and three touchdowns as the Chiefs emerged from their bye week with a 5-4 record.

McMillian, who is in his fourth season with the Broncos, recorded 29 tackles, five pass breakups, two forced fumbles and two sacks in 10 games. He joined Denver in 2022 as an undrafted free agent out of East Carolina.

Both teams entered the AFC West matchup needing a win for their own reasons. The Broncos will remain in the race for the division title, while the Chiefs will remain alive in the race for the wild card spot.
