Deion Sanders said he is proud of his son Shedeur, who played in his first NFL game for the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
The Colorado head coach said Shedeur was doing the right things behind the scenes.
“I know the fight behind the fight,” Sanders told reporters Tuesday. “I know what’s going on behind the scenes, and I’m proud of him. Because he doesn’t just say the right things, he does the right things and lives. That’s just who he is.

“He’s a Sanders.”
While Dillon Gabriel is in concussion protocol, Sanders will start for the Browns in their game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. Deion hasn’t decided whether his son will make the trip for his first NFL start.
“I’m very focused on what we have,” the coach said. “I’m not thinking about it, even though I just talked to him on the phone.”
The Pro Football Hall of Famer’s hunch was that Shedeur might make his NFL debut last week against the Baltimore Ravens, but it didn’t turn out that way.

“I thought the Ravens would play better early to tempt (Shedeur) to get in,” Deion Sanders said. “I didn’t want him to get injured because I love Dillon and I want him to be successful, too.”
The former Colorado star quarterback completed just four of 16 passes for 47 yards in his NFL debut, while throwing an interception and being sacked twice.
Deion wasn’t surprised that Shedeur wasn’t at his best.

“I knew there would be inconsistencies between a lot of things because I know football,” Deion said.
The Browns are hoping Sanders can provide a spark to the offense, as he has averaged just 16.2 points per game (29th in the NFL) and 257.3 yards per game (31st in the NFL) this season.
The Browns will face the Raiders (2-8) on Sunday at 4:05 PM ET.
