“Cody truly loved the game of golf. He spent much of his life selflessly helping others improve and enjoy the game,” the statement continued. “Watching golf, which is people’s happiness, brought him happiness, and his infectious personality was felt by everyone who met him. He was universally known as the nicest man in the world.”
“Cody made a lot of people laugh, made a lot of people smile, and made a lot of people better,” he said, leading up to his last stint with Barstool as a PGA Professional. “Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with Cody’s entire family and loved ones,” the statement said. “We will take our hats off to Cody today and every day. Rest in peace next to the most stylish man we know.”

Cause of death of Cody Franke
Cody “Beef” Franke, the 31-year-old star of Barstool Sports, died following a sudden medical event while attending a wedding in the Dominican Republic. The report suggests that the medical emergency occurred over the weekend that Cody Franke was in the Dominican Republic. Barstool did not disclose the exact cause of death.
Franke joined Barstool Sports as Lead Golf Pro in 2025 following his career as a former PGA professional. He gained popularity through his appearance on the “Fore Play” golf podcast, where his genuine personality and passion for the game made him a fan favorite.
Some of Franke’s friends and colleagues shared their condolences on social media following the media personality’s death. Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy wrote in a statement to X: “Barstool lost a member of our family this weekend.”
