Mike Macdonald can be called a Super Bowl champion head coach in just his second season with the Seattle Seahawks.
The Seahawks put together an impressive defensive showing in the team’s 29-13 win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX. Macdonald celebrated with his team at Levi’s Stadium, and NBC’s Maria Taylor asked what the win meant to him.

“I believe God called me to be a coach, and I listened to Him and thought about Him,” Macdonald said. “We’re incredibly lucky to be the Seahawks and to be 12 years old. And now we’re world champions.”
Macdonald somehow engineered a defense to deter Patriots quarterback Drake Maye throughout the night. He made a clutch shot or two, but it was far from enough as Seattle harassed him throughout the night.

PATRIOTS’ DRAKE MAYE SHARES A HEARTLY MOMENT WITH WIFE ANN MICHAEL AHEAD OF SUPER BOWL RELEASE
The Seahawks’ defense sacked Maye six times throughout the night. He had two interceptions and lost a fumble. Seattle’s Uchenna Nwosu returned one of those interceptions for a touchdown to help close the door on any hopes of a New England comeback.
Seattle’s defense was a major sticking point throughout the 2025 season. The team finished first in points allowed and sixth in yards allowed. The team finished the regular season 14-3, won the NFC West and won its first Super Bowl since the 2013 season.
