NHL news: Brad Marchand cries during emotional tribute video in TD Garden return

While there’s no crying in baseball, there’s definitely crying in hockey.
Florida Panthers star Brad Marchand returned to TD Garden with a 4-3 win over the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night, and he got emotional when the Bruins played a tribute video for him.
Marchand, 37, spent more than 15 years of his career with the Bruins before being traded to the Panthers before last year’s trade deadline. He was the captain of the Bruins when they traded him.

After the moment of silence, Marchand jumped over the boards and acknowledged the loud applause he received, emotions quickly overwhelming him. She began to cry on the ice and sat back on the bench, overcome with emotion.
“Obviously I want to thank (the fans) for putting on an incredible performance here,” Marchand said in a pre-game interview. With NESN. “They were the best years (of my life).”

Marchand had two assists in the Panthers’ win on Tuesday. He has eight points from eight matches so far this season.
Marchand was a key part of the Bruins’ 2010-11 Stanley Cup-winning team. The four-time All-Star scored 422 goals and had 554 assists for 976 points in 1,090 games with the Bruins.

The forward has started the fourth-most games in team history, scored the fourth-most goals, and ranks fifth in the all-time scoring rankings.
Marchand was outstanding in the Panthers’ Stanley Cup win last season and had 10 goals and 10 assists in the Panthers’ 23 playoff games.
