NHS workers to get 3.3% pay rise from April | NHS

More than 1.4 million NHS workers will receive a 3.3% pay rise from April, the government has announced.
Health secretary Wes Streeting said the increase was above the Office for Budget Responsibility’s inflation forecast of 2.2% for 2026-27 and delivered a “real-term pay rise” for NHS staff.
However, health unions criticized this amount. Helga Pile, Unison’s head of health, said: “NHS staff under tight pressure will be more angry at a below-inflation pay award.” Inflation rose to 3.4% in December, the latest figure.
Streeting said the increase would be in pay packets from April for the first time in six years. He said: “We have listened to the workforce and understand the challenges they face when paychecks are not delivered on time. That is why this government has committed to speeding up the pay review process, appointing pay review bodies months earlier than in previous years and providing written evidence earlier.
“I fully accept the advice of the NHS pay review body in making this award.”
