Nitish leaves for Delhi, may resign as Bihar CM after taking oath as Rajya Sabha member

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Janata Dal (United) working president Sanjay Kumar Jha left for Delhi on Thursday, April 9, 2026, following reports that he may be sworn in as a Rajya Sabha member on Friday, April 10.

Mr. Kumar is expected to meet senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in Delhi before returning to Patna on April 11 or the next day. He is likely to address a meeting of NDA MPs on April 13 and hold his last Cabinet meeting as Prime Minister. After this, he may resign from his position.
