NMRC approves three new corridors for Metro, largest stretch to connect THESE two areas; Here’s what we know so far

Noida Metro appointed Ayesa to prepare design drawings of three new corridors totaling 31,595 km. The routes include Sector-51 – Knowledge Park V, Sector-142 – Botanical Garden and Warehouse – Bodaki.

Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has taken a significant step in expanding its network by entrusting Ayesa with the consultancy task on preparation of Detailed Design Drawings (DDC) for three upcoming metro corridors. Following the final verification of the documents submitted by the company, the work is expected to start within the next two weeks.

Three New Metro Corridors Approved

NMRC has approved the development of three important sections aimed at improving connectivity between Noida and Greater Noida:

1. Sector-51 to Knowledge Park V (Greater Noida West)

Length: 17.345 km

Stations: 11
This corridor will extend metro access to Greater Noida West and cover many important residential and commercial hubs.

2. Sector-142 to Botanical Garden

Length: 11.56 km

Stations: 8
Once completed, this link will significantly ease travel towards the Delhi Metro interchange at the Botanical Garden and improve last mile connectivity for commuters.

3. Greater Noida Depot to Bodaki

Length: 2.6 km

Stations: 2
This shorter distance will strengthen connectivity around the Bodaki area, which is expected to see major infrastructure growth.

Collectively, the three lines cover 31,595 km and the project cost is estimated at Rs 24.21 billion. The consultancy agreement will be valid for five years.

Status Update in Every Corridor

  • Sector-51 to Knowledge Park V: Pending central government approval.
  • Sector-142 to Botanical Garden: Final approvals are likely to be given soon.
  • Bodaki Warehouse: Already cleared by the Center; Soil tests are carried out.

Topographic surveys of the second and third corridors have been completed and will be handed over to Ayesa for further design studies.

Planned Sustainable Features

All stations on the three new metro lines will be equipped with solar energy systems, allowing the stations to generate their own electricity for operations. According to NMRC Executive Director Mahendra Prasad, the consultant will prepare detailed civil, mechanical, electrical and track designs along with cost estimates. Once the designs receive official approvals, NMRC will be able to open tenders for construction.

A Step Towards Smarter Connectivity

The expansion of Noida Metro is set to provide faster, greener and more efficient transport options, increasing mobility across Noida and Greater Noida. With the start of DDC preparations, the project moved to one of its most important stages, paving the way for construction and eventual commissioning in the coming years.
