1983 World Cup hero compares Vaibhav Suryavanshi to Sachin Tendulkar, urges fast-track to Team India

Young batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi has received huge praise after the 1983 World Cup hero compared himself to Sachin Tendulkar and encouraged Team India to fast track the 14-year-old prodigy, citing his record-breaking performances in IPL, U-19 and domestic cricket.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been in the limelight for a long time, especially since his impressive performance in IPL 2025. He broke records with the Rajasthan Royals, India U-19 and Bihar local team when he was just 14 years old. Sachin Tendulkar also made a significant impact at a young age, making his debut for India when he was just 16 years old. Former India captain Krishnamachary Srikkanth drew a comparison between Suryavanshi and Tendulkar and urged the Indian team management to take notice.

Kris Srikkanth, in a video on his YouTube channel, emphasized that Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been consistently successful. For this reason, he stated that his recruitment to the Indian team should be accelerated and noted that Sachin Tendulkar was selected for the national team at the age of 16.

“Vaibhav is scoring hundreds everywhere, be it IPL, U19. You can say against Arunachal Pradesh, but that’s a different story. This kid is crushing everyone in every kind of match. Last year too, I had told him that they should quickly apply for him for the T20 World Cup. Maybe it is too late for that now, but still they are adding him to the team quickly. This kid has immense potential. He should be stepped up and included in the Indian team soon,” said Srikkanth.

“People are saying let him play for a while, let him do this, let him do that. Sachin also played at a very young age. Of course, he played for India after scoring hundreds at all levels, but the same can be done for this kid in white-ball cricket,” he added.

Suryavanshi has excelled against opposition bowlers on both domestic and international platforms. He thrived under pressure and broke many records. He recently made history by becoming the youngest player to enter the A List at the age of 14. He played an impressive knock of 190 runs for Bihar in the opening match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Arunachal Pradesh, playing off just 84 balls. Suryavanshi reached his century after facing just 36 deliveries.

Recently, Vaibhav Suryavanshi took a trip to Delhi to receive the Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award, where he was recognized by President Droupadi Murmu. As a result, he left for Delhi at 7 am on the match day and missed the Bihar-Manipur match.

After the Bihar-Manipur match, Vaibhav Suryavanshi will join the India camp for the Under-19 World Cup, which is scheduled to begin in Zimbabwe on January 15. As a result, he will not be able to participate in the remaining matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Bihar.
