Nora Fatehi’s ‘Sarke Chunariya’ faces legal complaint: Why singers and netizens are seeking ban on the song alsofeaturing Sanjay Dutt

A dance track featuring Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt has landed in legal trouble after a complaint filed for its immediate ban, alleging suggestive lyrics and visuals that could harm minors. The song “Sarke Chunariya” is currently under review by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), despite singer Armaan Malik and many social media users openly criticizing the song.

Advocate Vineet Jindal filed a formal complaint with the CBFC and forwarded it to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, urging the authorities to remove the song from digital platforms.

The complaint alleges that the piece contains “extremely vulgar, sexually suggestive and suggestive language” and argues that its visuals and choreography promote indecency. He emphasizes that the song is widely available on platforms such as YouTube, making it easily accessible to minors.

The complainant cited possible violations under Article 294 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) as well as provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO Act) and the Information Technology Act, 2000.

A separate complaint was also lodged with the Delhi Police Cyber ​​Cell regarding the online circulation of the song.
The plea includes notable names who contributed to the track, including lyricist Raqeeb Alam, director Prem, composer Arjun Janya and singer Mangli.

Armaan Malik calls the song ‘a new low’

The controversy intensified after Armaan Malik reacted harshly to the song in X.

“This popped up on my timeline and I had to play it again to make sure I heard it right. Sad to see commercial songwriting hit a new low…” he wrote.

His remarks gave impetus to increasing criticism regarding the track’s lyrics.

Netizens question the ‘normalization’ of vulgar lyrics

Many social media users expressed similar concerns and questioned the quality of mainstream music.

“It’s sad to see how cheap and vulgar lyrics have become normalized in mainstream songs. Shock value is not creativity. Bollywood music once had poetry, emotion and depth; we deserve that standard once again,” wrote one user.

Another commented: “The level is this low. My ears are bleeding.. even the music industry approves of these lyrics? This nonsense should be banned.”

Features of the song in ‘KD: The Devil’ are being prepared for release

The song features in the movie KD: The Devil, a period action entertainer set in 1970s Bengaluru. Directed by Prem and produced by KVN Productions, the film stars Dhruva Sarja, Sanjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Nora Fatehi, Ramesh Aravind, Reeshma Nanaiah and V Ravichandran in lead roles.

The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on April 30, 2026.

This debate has once again sparked a broader debate about creative freedom and public morality. Although the complaint calls for an immediate ban, the final decision now rests with the authorities as debate continues over what crosses the line in the mainstream entertainment industry.
