Paris metro stabbing as three women injured | World | News
Three women were stabbed on the subway the day after Christmas in Paris, France. Local transport operator RATP said the incident occurred on the metro’s Ligne 3 (third line) between 16.15 and 16.45 local time (15.15 and 15.45 GMT).
French news source BFMTV wrote that the knife attacks took place at Arts-et-Métiers, République and Opéra stations. RATP said metro service between Republique and Gallieni was temporarily suspended following the incident. In X it was stated that this was “due to the intervention of law enforcement”.
Two of the injured women were treated at the scene by firefighters before being taken to hospital. A third woman went to the hospital and reported that she had been stabbed in Ligne 3.
None of the women are thought to have reported life-threatening injuries.
It was stated that the suspect fled the scene after the attack.
An investigation of attempted murder and aggravated assault with a weapon was launched, led by the regional transportation security service (SRT), with the support of the Val-d’Oise police department.
A 25-year-old man was arrested in the Val-d’Oise region on Boxing Day, the prosecutor’s office said.
