Tesla crashes head-on with dump truck in Scottsdale, injuring 2
A wrong-way Tesla collided head-on with a dump truck in Scottsdale on Dec. 2, sending both drivers to the hospital, police said.
The crash happened just before noon in a residential area near Cactus Road and 74th Street. Scottsdale officers restricted traffic at the scene of the major crash, according to the Scottsdale Police Department at X.
Officer Aaron Bolin, a spokesman for the Scottsdale Police Department, said a Tesla was traveling eastbound on Cactus Road, veered left across the median into the westbound lanes and struck the dump truck.

According to preliminary police investigation, the impact of the collision swung the dump truck to the left, where it side-swiped the Nissan Maxima and then traveled across the eastbound lane, crashing into the block wall of a house.
Both the Tesla driver and the dump truck driver were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Bolin.
Scottsdale police said impairment and speed did not appear to be a factor, and investigators estimated the Tesla was traveling at the posted speed limit.
According to Bolin, the Tesla driver was cited for driving left across the median under Arizona Revised Statutes 28-721(A) and for failing to control speed to avoid a collision under ARS 28-701(A).
Bolin said Tesla’s driving mode at the time of the crash remains part of an active investigation.
