Recalling Dharmendra’s association with the Bigg Boss series over the years, Salman Khan shared that the Sholay star shared the same birthday with his mother Salma Khan and that his father Salim Khan passed away on his birthday.
Salman Khan remembers Dharmendra in Bigg Boss 19 finale
On November 24, Bollywood bid farewell to one of its most iconic and loved stars, Dharmendra. The veteran superstar had appeared on Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss series many times over the years, making his presence an unforgettable part of the show’s legacy. During the Bigg Boss 19 finale on December 7, Salman Khan got emotional while remembering Dharmendra. He also praised Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol for organizing a dignified funeral and prayer meet for Bollywood’s He-Man.
Salman released a tribute video reminiscing about Dharmendra’s memorable moments on the sets of Bigg Boss. As the clip ended, the Sultan star was visibly holding back tears and said: “We lost He-Man. We lost the greatest man. I don’t think there is anyone better than Dharamji. He lived life like a king. He gave us Sunny, Bobby and Esha. Since the day he joined the industry, he just wanted to work. He took on many roles. My career graph….I just followed Dharamji. He came with an innocent face and He-Man’ body. This charm stayed with him till the end. I love you, Dharamji will always miss you.”
Ek Tha Tiger also shared Dharmendra’s connection with his own parents Salim Khan and Salma Khan. “The point is…. Dharamji died on November 24, it’s my father’s birthday and tomorrow is both his birthday and my mother’s birthday. If I feel that way, imagine what Sunny and his family have gone through. There were two funerals that were conducted with utmost dignity: Sooraj Barjatya’s mother’s and Dharamji’s. They performed his prayers with great grace and dignity. Salman’s father and master screenwriter Salim Khan was born on 24 November 1935. Her mother, Salma Khan, born Sushila Charak, was born on December 8, 1942. Dharmendra would have turned 90 on December 8 this year. The Sholay star is survived by his two wives and six children: Prakash Kaur and children Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Ajeeta Deol and Vijeta Deol; and Hema Malini and her daughters Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.
