Elon Musk announces 2026 MEGA plan, Neuralink to mass produce brain chips, reveals details of surgical procedure

Neuralink, Elon Musk’s brain-computer interface (BCI) company, is preparing to make a big move in 2026, based on a previously limited human trial. The company plans to mass produce the first brain-implantable device.
Elon Musk reveals plans to expand Neuralink in 2026
Elon Musk’s brain– computer interface (BCI) company Neuralink is preparing to take a big step forward in 2026 after a previously limited human trial. The company plans to mass produce the first brain-implantable device, marking an important milestone in the race to combine the human brain with machines. The aim is to fully automate the process and make advanced brain implants available to more people. The process will help patients with strokes or serious neurological conditions.
Elon Musk gave the update while responding to a post on X about Neuralink’s growth in 2025. Talking about his future plans, he explained that the company aims to go beyond limited production. “Neuralink will begin high-volume production of brain-computer interface devices and transition to a modern, almost fully automated surgical procedure in 2026,” Musk said.
In the same post, Musk also admitted that the entire process of implanting these chips will be automated by the end of this year.
Neuralink’s Blindsight implant, designed to restore vision to the completely blind, will also undergo its first patient trial in 2026. The implant is designed to create visual perception in people with vision loss by sending signals directly to the part of the brain that processes vision (the visual cortex), as long as the brain area is still functional.
The device consists of a small microelectrode array placed in the visual cortex of the brain. It receives visual information from an external camera and stimulates neurons, allowing the user to interpret what they “see”. Technology can be proven to be evolutionary in the field of human cognition.
Neuralink’s automated surgery plan aims to engage anyone and everyone in adopting BCI technology and removing barriers around it. Musk also said: “The device threads will pass through the dura without having to remove it. This is very important.” Dura refers to the outermost tough membrane that surrounds the brain and spinal cord.
