NSW parliament to be recalled on Monday after Bondi Beach massacre

The NSW parliament will be recalled on Monday afternoon after Premier Chris Minns vowed to reform the state’s firearms laws in the wake of the Bondi massacre.
Greens MLC Sue Higginson confirmed parliament would be recalled on 22-23 December; The topic will only be a condolence petition and “legislation arising from the Bondi incident”.
Mr Minns indicated on Tuesday afternoon that parliament would be recalled before Christmas.
Mr. Minns has vowed to significantly strengthen the state’s gun laws in response to the terrorist attack that left 16 people dead, including the shooter.
Opposition Leader Kellie Sloane said on Wednesday morning she would be happy to work with the government on the recall.
“We need to see the details of what they are proposing,” he said.

“We would support recalling parliament to resolve this with the government.”
Ms Higginson said she had written to Ms Sloane and Mr Minns to offer support to the Greens, saying the party would support a 10-point plan from the Australian Gun Safety Alliance that would almost completely eliminate recreational gun activities.
