Nurses and midwives union at loggerheads with government in wage negotiations

Health Minister Tim Nicholls made his own statement on Friday night.
“In addition to this nation -leader proposal, the Crisaflli government’s budget provides a record investment in Queensland’s health system,” he said.
“We stay at the table and we are committed to providing a nation -leader fee agreement for nurses and midwives by recognizing the significant contributions of our state to the health system.”
On Friday, Sharon Schimming, General Manager of the Ministry of Education, issued a review for teachers at the wage negotiations of their sectors.
The proposed three years did not increase the wage increase, but he added a handful of additional measures for new teachers, including collective payment and an additional day.
Queensland Teachers’ Association Representative said it was not taken into consideration.
“We can reach an agreement, but this payment offer is rejected,” he said.
“We work in good faith.”
