Nvidia temporarily shuts Dubai offices, Amazon tells employees to work remotely amid tensions in West Asia

Leading tech firms, including Nvidia and Amazon, have urged their employees in Dubai to work remotely amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia following a joint US-Israeli attack on Iran over the weekend.

Chip giant Nvidia has temporarily closed its Dubai offices and had employees work remotely, according to a CNBC report, citing an email CEO Jensen Huang sent to all employees early Tuesday.

Huang said in his memo that Nvidia’s crisis management team was “working around the clock and actively supporting affected employees and their families” in the region, including about 6,000 Nvidia employees based in Israel.

Amazon has instructed all corporate employees in the Middle East to work remotely and “adhere to local government guidelines,” the report said.

The e-commerce giant has corporate offices in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Egypt, Turkey and Israel. It also operates “quick trade stores” in the UAE, as well as warehouses and data centers across the region to facilitate 15-minute deliveries.
