Nvidia working on new AI chip for China: sources
Story: Nvidia is developing a new AI chip for China.
This is according to two sources that say that the US technology giant will be based on the latest Blackwell architecture.
They also said that the H20 model would be stronger than allowing NVIDIA to sell there.
US President Donald Trump implied last week that the company could be allowed to sell more advanced chips in China.
However, the sources said that the US regulatory approval is not guaranteed.
They say Washington has strong concerns about providing a lot of access to AI technology to China.
The sources said the new chip is now known as B30A and its features are not completely concluded.
He added that NVIDIA hopes to deliver an example to Chinese customers to test up to the next month.
Nvidia said in a statement: “We evaluate various products for our road map, so that we may be ready to compete to the extent permitted by governments.”
The US Department of Commerce did not respond to a Reuters comment request.
China has produced 13% of Nvidia’s income in the last financial year.
After the company was ordered to stop in April in April, it received permission to continue the sales of H20.
Two years ago, after export restrictions were implemented, the chip was developed specially for China.
Trump said last week that he could allow Nvidia to sell a scale version of the new generation chip in China.
This is after Nvidia and its opponent AMD announced an unprecedented agreement that will see 15% of the revenue from the sales of some advanced chips in China to the US government.
