Ohio golf course worker accused of stealing nearly $900K remains on the run

A former golf course employee accused of stealing nearly $900,000 from an Ohio golf course remains at large.

Accordingly multiple reportsKinley Lee is accused of embezzling $883,000 from Coldstream Country Club in the Cincinatti area while working as the club’s controller.

Lee and his wife reportedly left the United States to live in Mexico in June 2024. In August of the same year, after the club filed a civil lawsuit, the couple were ordered to pay Coldstream $4 million, the actual amount stolen plus damages.

Accordingly WKRClocal authorities are trying to extradite Lee to face charges in the US

“We are working with the sheriff’s office and various federal agencies throughout this process,” Hamilton County deputy prosecutor Andy Berghausen told WKRC. “We’re confident that things are moving forward and moving forward to try to get all the necessary paperwork and things in place to bring him back.”

Berghausen added that assistance from federal authorities would be needed and no timeline was provided.

According to reviewed court documents USA Today and GolfweekLee, 28, worked as Coldstream’s controller for less than a year. He transferred the club’s money to accounts he controlled and left the country before the planned audit, telling the club that he and his wife were going on holiday to Mexico.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Lee, and if he is caught, Coldstream plans to seek a lengthy prison sentence.

“It’s just a matter of time,” Coldstream’s attorney, Christopher McDowell, told USA Today. “He’s never safe.”
