Olympic bobsled legend Kaillie Humphries is a taxpaying Californian who is unhappy with Gov. Gavin Newsom’s response to recent allegations of fraud in the state, especially with the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics on the horizon.
Newsom came under fire Tuesday night after his press office released a response to independent journalist Nick Shirley’s investigation into allegations of fraud in California.
The post showed Shirley covered in cameras and asking, “Hey, can I see your kids?” There was an image of artificial intelligence with a speech bubble that said.

Humphries told Fox News Digital about his reaction, raising concerns about its impact on the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
“As a California resident, I am deeply concerned about the allegations of financial fraud and Governor Newsom’s indifference on this issue. Besides the fact that any financial fraud is false, the fact that this is allegedly occurring in the state scheduled to host the 2028 Olympics is even more concerning. The Olympics are a multibillion-dollar event that requires significant government support to ensure it is run properly,” Humphries said. he said.
“Olympic host cities around the world have been struggling for years with financial frauds that occur while hosting the Olympics. America is not immune to these problems, either, as the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics were tainted by a bribery scandal.
“Before America hosts the world at the LA 28 Olympics, California and its leadership, including Governor Newsom, need to address these serious allegations and ensure proper accounting for all the money spent by U.S. taxpayers on the Olympics.”
Newsom’s office released a statement in response to Fox News Digital’s request for a response to Humphries.
“Our office generally does not respond to comments from people who are not directly involved or knowledgeable about the issue,” the statement said. “Under Governor Newsom’s leadership, California leads the nation in PREVENTing fraud, waste, and abuse, protecting billions of dollars for families, students, seniors, and communities,” a spokesperson said, adding a link to a state website dedicated to stopping so-called fraud.

Humphries legally immigrated from Canada and moved to San Diego sometime between the late 2010s and early 2020s. Enduring an intense legal immigration process, she moved from Team Canada to Team USA, becoming the only female bobsledder to win gold medals for both teams.
She is now a new mother in San Diego, navigating the state’s challenges with her husband, Travis.
Shortly after winning the bronze medal at the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics, Humphries revealed in an interview with Fox News Digital that he is a Republican and a proud supporter of President Donald Trump. He said he supports Trump’s goals of protecting women’s sports, enforcing immigration laws, making in vitro fertilization more accessible, and even defended the U.S. men’s hockey team’s relationship with Trump after backlash from the left.
Humphries later became the first U.S. Olympian to give a president the same Order of Ikkos medal she gave Trump at a women’s history month event at the White House last week.
He said he received backlash after announcing his support for Trump in his first interview with Fox News Digital.
Humphries had previously said: “I have encountered some people who disagree with my ideas and have made it public.”

“It’s a lot of name-calling. You’re called every name and word humanly possible… and at the end of the day, politics can be very emotional for people, and I understand that. And everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and what they stand for.”
“That’s their opinion and I don’t have to like it or agree with it. I wish it were different, but that’s the way it goes.”
