One dead after reports of man ‘stabbing multiple people’ | World | News

One person is dead and two others are in critical condition after a man stabbed multiple people and fled the scene, according to police.
The incident took place in Sydney, Australia, on the morning of Tuesday, February 17.
A man stabbed several people in the Merrylands area in the city’s west around 10am, according to New South Wales Police.
Emergency services, including police, attended the scene on Merrylands Road.
Upon arrival, officers were told “a man had stabbed multiple people before fleeing the area on foot.”
NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and treated three people for serious injuries. In the incident, one person died at the scene, and two people in serious condition were taken to the hospital.
Police stated that the identity of the deceased has not yet been officially determined.
While the crime scene was being investigated, an investigation was launched into the incident.
Following inquiries a man was arrested in Smythe Street, Merrylands.
He was taken to Granville Police Station.
