According to SQ spokesperson Béatrice Dorsainville, the accident took place around 10:45 a.m., on Route 107 near the intersection of Route 117 in Mont-Laurier. One of the vehicles is said to have deviated from its lane for a reason that is still unknown.

A total of seven people were allegedly involved and three of them suffered serious injuries.

The driver of one of the cars died after being transported to a hospital and the front passenger of the vehicle, also in her sixties, as well as a young girl of minor age who was in the back, were seriously injured and their lives were in danger.

Mme Dorsainville told The Canadian Press that Route 107 is closed, and that a bypass is possible via Route 117. A reconstructionist is on the scene to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
