Pawan Forms District-Level Teams To Monitor Jal Jeevan Mission progress

Vijayawada:To ensure timely completion and quality execution of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) work, Deputy Chief Minister and rural water supply minister K. Pawan Kalyan has ordered the establishment of special monitoring units in every district.

These teams, led by district collectors, will coordinate all relevant departments, including Panchayat Raj, Rural Water Supply, Roads and Buildings, Revenue and Forest, to ensure that the mission objectives are met within stipulated time periods. Monitoring units will conduct daily site inspections to track progress and address issues promptly.

Pawan underlined the importance of providing safe drinking water to every household by fulfilling the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi under the rule of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. He underlined the urgency and adherence to quality standards in the implementation of JJM projects.

“Mega water supply projects have been launched in five districts, including Prakasam and Markapur, targeting over 21 lakh people. These projects will particularly benefit fluoride-affected districts, with ₹ 1,290 crore projects in Prakasam alone,” Pawan said. Officials also reported significant progress in East and West Godavari districts where more than 1.5 lakh households will get tap water connections through new purification plants, reservoirs and pipelines.

The Deputy CM emphasized the need for inter-departmental coordination to overcome hurdles such as land allocation for reservoirs and pipeline permits along roads. He directed the collectors to conduct weekly progress reviews and raise unresolved issues to the state government whenever necessary.
