One More Hindu Man Shot Dead in Bangladesh

Dhaka: An Ansar member, Bajendra Biswas (40), was killed after being shot by a colleague in Mymensingh’s Bhaluka upazila. According to RTV Online, accused Ansar member Noman Mia was arrested. “Yes, the incident has been confirmed,” Monindra Nath, Deputy General Secretary of Bangladesh Hindu Buddah Christian Unity Council, told ANI over phone.
“The incident took place around 6.30 pm on Monday, December 29, at the Sultana Sweaters Limited factory in the Mehrabari area of the upazila,” the report said. “Late Ansar member Bajendra Biswas was the son of Probitra Biswas of Kadirpur village under Sylhet Sadar upazila.
“The accused Noman Mia is the son of Lutfar Rahman from Baluturi Bazar area under Taherpur Police Station in Sunamganj district,” the statement said.
The report stated, “According to the police and local sources, a total of 20 Ansar members were working at the Sultana Sweaters Limited factory. At the time of the incident, Ansar members Noman Mia and Bajendra Das were sitting together. Meanwhile, Noman Mia’s shotgun opened fire and Bajendra Das was seriously injured in his left thigh.”
Later, his colleagues rescued him and took him to the Upazila Health Complex; where the doctor on duty declared him dead.” APC Md Azahar Ali, an Ansar member serving in the Labib Group and an eyewitness to the incident, said Noman Mia and Bajendra Das were sitting together in his room when the incident occurred. Suddenly, Noman Mia placed the shotgun on Bajendra Das’ thigh and said: “Can I fire?” he said and then fired.
Thereupon, Noman fled the scene. According to RTV Online, he also stated that he did not see any argument or conflict between them before the incident.” Speaking about the issue in the early hours of Tuesday morning, Mymensingh district Additional Inspector of Police (Financial and Administrative) Md Abdullah Al Mamun said that the accused Noman was arrested in an urgent operation. He added that a comprehensive investigation has been launched to determine the real cause of the incident. The body has been sent to the morgue of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for autopsy and the legal process is ongoing.” It was said.
