Kerala government committed to sustainable development of State’s coastal areas: Minister Rajeeve

Industrial Minister P. Rajeeve is determined to sustain the coastal areas spreading about 590 km in nine regions of the Kerala government.
The Minister launched a two -day workshop on Monday, August 18, 2025, together with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Kochi, together with the State Government, ‘Durable Coasts, Developing Communities: A Solution Sea’.
“Approximately 30% of the population of the state live in the coastal regions. The government implements special projects for the progress and security of the coastal people. Projects, including the construction of the Tetrapod sea wall, are being carried out to resist the sea attack and other issues caused by climate change.”
Resource protection
The protection of marine resources, maritime pollution, the development and protection of green ports, the protection of coastal areas and the welfare of the coastal population are among the topics discussed in the workshop.
Atul Jain, President, Central Water Commission; K. Jeevan Babu, Special Secretary, Water Resources Department; And India was among those who participated in the event on the first day. The workshop ends on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
