LifeFlight helicopter crash reported in Wilson County

The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office announced that law enforcement responded to the scene of the LifeFlight helicopter crash in Wilson County on the afternoon of November 8th.
The crash occurred in a rural area of Wilson County in the 7100 block of Cairo Bend Road between Gallatin and Lebanon.
Wilson County Sheriff Robert Bryan said the crash occurred in an area well off Cairo Bend Road.
“We are securing the area pending the NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) and the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration),” Bryan said. “Whenever there’s a plane crash, that’s our procedure.”
Multiple people were transported to a medical facility, Bryan said. The extent of the injuries was not immediately known.
The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office is coordinating with multiple emergency services agencies to respond to the crash.
Capt. Scott Moore of the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office said the National Transportation Safety Board Board has taken over the investigation. LifeFlight will provide further updates, Moore said.
It is not yet clear how many people were on the plane and what injuries or deaths occurred.
Authorities are asking drivers to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
U.S. Rep. Scott DesJarlais, who represents the adjacent district, shared the support of everyone in attendance.
