A nursery worker in north London has admitted sexually abusing young children in her care.

Vincent Chan, 45, appeared at Wood Green Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to 26 charges, including sexual assault by penetration, sexual assault by touch and making indecent images depicting the most serious category of child sexual abuse.

The force said the investigation into Chan followed a tip-off from a tipster and had become one of the most “distressing and complex” cases carried out by the Metropolitan Police.

Chan, of Stanhope Avenue, Finchley, will be sentenced on January 23.

Det Supt Lewis Basford, who led the Met Police’s investigation, said the offenses had caused “deep shock and distress”.

Police said this was one of the most complex and disturbing cases officers have investigated.

Chan started working at the nursery in 2017 and has held a variety of roles including art specialist, room leader and nursery nurse.

He was entrusted with the care of children between the ages of two and four.

He first gained attention for filming children in his care and overlaying the video with sound, according to the Met.
