Bandi Sanjay Slams State on Paddy Woes

Hyderabad: Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay Kumar accused the state government of betraying the trust of farmers amid paddy supply shortages. He said farmers are enduring scorching heat at procurement centres, being denied fair prices due to moisture shortages despite promises of dry paddy purchases without penalty.
In a letter to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Sanjay questioned the unfulfilled bonus commitments for the last Rabi season and warned of a repeat this year. He alleged that MSP for paddy was denied while the Center ignored maize procurement, leaving many farmers vulnerable to middlemen.
He criticized inadequate assistance for crop loss of more than five lakh acres due to untimely rains and stated that only Rs 260 Million was disbursed against Rs 5,000 per acre of Rs 10,000. He also alleged that the Civil Supply Corporation’s debt had risen to Rs 1 lakh billion under the Congress rule as compared to Rs 56,000 billion under the BRS.
Demanding immediate action, the minister warned that major protests could occur if promises such as the Warangal Declaration and summer action plans are ignored in drought conditions.
