These funds come from the Energy Innovation Program, which the federal government says aims to promote clean technologies and maintain a competitive and reliable energy system in the country.
The majority of the funding announced Friday will be dedicated to five projects involving carbon capture, utilization and storage technologies.
Two Saskatchewan organizations will receive a total of nearly $15 million to help design and understand carbon capture processes.
More than 9 million will be devoted to renewable energy projects, particularly in the field of solar energy.
The rest of the funds will be used to finance projects related to smart grid technologies aimed at improving the efficiency of electricity flows.
