Over 150 fall ill after suspected food poisoning at temple feast in Mattannur in Kerala

More than 150 people were admitted to various hospitals for medical treatment following a suspected case of food poisoning linked to a banquet held between 12.40 pm and 4 pm on Monday afternoon (April 6, 2026) at the Karaputhiyedath Madappura Sree Muthappan temple at Mattannur in Kannur district of Kerala.

Symptoms such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea and headache led people in Karayi, Thelappu and Peravoor to seek treatment at various hospitals.
