Thousands of homes approved under environmental laws to meet 1.2 million target

O’Neil said that the approval of 4600 houses is a step towards meeting the government’s wider target of 1.2 million houses.

“Today, it is very difficult to build a house in Australia. The builders have endless layers of bureaucracy at three government levels before they put a brick,” he said.

“Commonwealth cannot solve this problem alone, but will not be corrected without being used. These numbers show that we have made a meaningful start with much more.”

Since the latest approval data would fall up to 200,000 properties, the government is far behind the target of 1.2 million home. For the last 12 months, approximately 190,000 houses have been approved for construction – very shorter than 240,000 people per year to reach the target of the government.

There has been an elevator for approval affected by environmental laws, but there is still at least 22,000 to work.

Watt said that these approvals should be studied quickly, as it is given priority to completing all the necessary documents and supporting documents.

“Fasting projects still have to meet all environmental requirements, but we provide the country to move the housing pipeline by focusing our resources and sharpening our processes,” he said.

The coalition said the government still has not been able to fulfill its promises to voters.

Opposition housing spokesman Andrew Bragg said that despite the additional financing of 60 billion dollars, the lack of approvals, the plan to build 1.2 million houses until the middle of 2029 went from “Promotion”.
