Netizens react after Rasika Dugal says she would have rejected Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal

Rasika Dugal made her acting debut with the 2007 film Anwar, but she gained immense popularity after 11 years when she started playing Beena Tripathi in the Amazon Prime Video series Mirzapur from 2018. He has starred in all three seasons so far. At a recent event, Rasika stated that she would reject Ranbir Kapoor starrer Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s movie Animal due to its misogynistic content. Netizens are calling him out, reminding him that Mirzapur showed much more misogyny than the 2023 blockbuster.

Speaking at the We The Women 2025 event, Rasia said: “The things I will not do are celebrate misogyny or be part of a propaganda film, these are non-negotiable for me.” he said. When veteran journalist Barkha Dutt directly asked her if she would accept Animal, Rasika said firmly, “No”. Elaborating on her thought, Rasika said, “I would love to play a character whose politics is not compatible with mine. It is exciting for me. I am not Beena Tripathi in real life. I do not kill people or rape men. The reason I do what I do is to understand a mind different from mine. But it is important for me that the politics of the project is compatible with mine.”

As the clip has now gone viral on social media, netizens are savagely trolling Rasika left, right and centre. One of them wrote: “She was fucking her husband, father-in-law and maid at the same time in Mirzapur and does she have a problem with Animal? Animal, headlined by Ranbir Kapoor, was heavily criticized for its extreme violence and glorification of toxic masculinity. The Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial, which also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Triptii Dimri and Bobby Deol, still netted Rs 550 crore in India and grossed over Rs 900 crore at the global box office.
