Ozempic sales surge ‘up to 600%’ after Mounjaro price rises
Following the announcement of the price increases of his popular rival Mounjaro, weight loss medication Ozempic’s sales in the UK is reported to increase 500 to 600 percent.
Mounjaro manufacturer Eli Lilly said that the prices of the drug would be almost three times to make it compatible with other countries from 1 September.
Ozempic, also known under the Wegovy brand, is produced by Danish’s Novo Nordisk and will now be about half of Mounjaro.
Donald Trump’s administration comes after complaining about the “foreign free loaders olan relying on the United States to pay more for medicine.
In May, Mr. Trump said that the plan of price controls for prescription drugs was inspired by hearing the low cost of low weight loss drugs in the UK compared to the person he paid for the same drug in the United States.

When Eli Lilly started Mounjaro in the United Kingdom, he said he accepted a list of “significantly below” to prevent delays in availability through NHS in the other three European markets.
“The drug prices paid by governments and health systems should increase in other developed markets such as Europe to reduce them in the United States,” the company said.
He continued: “We continue to work with certain governments and expect to make necessary pricing adjustments until September 1. Provides continuous access to patients.
According to retailers, at least 500,000 people in the UK are Mounjaro or Wegovy, another weight -loss jab with prescriptions of special online pharmacies.
In June, NHS presented Mounjaro to obese patients after 97,500 patients who will benefit from the treatment of health professionals calculated from NHS UK data.
Prices paid by NHS for the drug will not increase after a significant reduction negotiation for patients who prescribe the health care drug.
