Ten-month-old Aalin Sherin Abraham, who was declared brain dead on Friday, February 13, 2026, in a critical condition after being admitted to a private hospital in Kochi, Kerala, following a road accident, will now live four more lives as her parents gave consent for her organs to be donated.
Health Minister Veena George said in her social media post that she will be remembered as the youngest organ donor in the state. The accident occurred at around 14.30 on February 5, near Pallam-Borma Junction on MC Road, when the car in which he was traveling with his mother and grandparents crashed into a vehicle coming from the opposite direction. His family belonged to Mallappally, Pathanamthitta.
The woman, who was seriously injured in the accident, was taken to hospitals in Changanassery and Thiruvalla. The baby’s condition deteriorated and he was transferred to Amrita hospital here for specialized treatment. According to the information obtained, he could not be saved despite the intensive efforts of the doctors.
After the parents agreed to donate their organs, organ donation procedures were coordinated through the government-run Kerala State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (K-SOTTO). The baby’s donated heart valves will be sent to Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology in Thiruvananthapuram, his liver will be sent to KIMS Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram and his kidneys will be sent to Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram. In addition, the child’s eyes will also be handed over to the specialist.Eye bank of Amrita hospital, according to K-SOTTO officials.
