Pak PM Sharif’s Draft Iran Ceasefire Post on X Goes Viral

Islamabad: Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s social media post sparked widespread controversy after an apparent “draft” message was accidentally published on X and later edited.

The controversy began when Sharif’s account posted a message titled “Message from the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Draft – X”, suggesting that the message was not intended to be made public in this form. The tweet was quickly edited to remove the “Draft” tag, but the main content remained unchanged.

The message emphasized ongoing diplomatic efforts to find a peaceful solution to the Middle East conflict and called on US President Donald Trump to extend the deadline for negotiations by two weeks. He also requested Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz for the same period as a sign of goodwill.

Additionally, the post called on all parties involved in the conflict to abide by the two-week ceasefire so diplomacy can move towards a permanent solution.

Despite the regulation, the incident sparked strong reactions online; Users questioned how the draft message was published and pointed to possible disruptions in handling sensitive diplomatic communications.

The tweet was reportedly sent in response to the US decision to suspend the bombing for two weeks and consider Iran’s “feasible” 10-point proposal.
