Pakistan: Imran Khan’s Son Seeks Proof Of Life Amid Rumours Of Former PM’s Death | World News

Speculations about the health of Pakistan’s jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan continue to intensify following unconfirmed Afghan media claims that he died in custody at Adiala Prison. In response, his son Qasim Khan publicly demanded confirmation that his father was alive, immediate access, and eventual release.

“He has been kept alone on a death row in complete isolation for the last six weeks. His sisters have been barred from every meeting, despite clear court orders. There have been no phone calls, no meetings, and no news of his well-being. My brother and I have not been able to contact our father in any way,” Kasim wrote.

Kasim claimed that this level of secrecy was not a routine security measure but a deliberate attempt to conceal Khan’s condition and prevent communication with his family.

“Let it be clear that the Pakistani government and its masters will bear full legal, moral and international responsibility for my father’s safety and any consequences of this inhumane isolation,” he added.

Describing the situation as “inhumane”, Kasim called on global leaders, international courts and human rights organizations to intervene. He listed several demands, including verification of Imran Khan’s status, communication access as required by court orders, an end to solitary confinement and what he called “politically motivated imprisonment”.

Khan’s sister emphasized that authorities could resolve the situation only by following judicial directives.

“The solution is simple… comply with the court orders and allow his family, lawyers and party leaders to meet with him.”

Imran Khan’s family also warned that the authorities would not dare to harm him, saying: “The only reason we believe he is safe is because the authorities do not dare to even hurt Imran Khan. They are well aware of the consequences… He is the leader of at least 90 percent of Pakistan.”

Imran Khan has been detained since August 2023 and is facing multiple legal cases that he insists are politically motivated. In January this year, he and his wife were convicted in a corruption case and sentenced to 14 years and seven years in prison respectively.

Earlier in March, leaders of Khan’s political party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had also alleged that he was being kept in solitary confinement on a death row. PTI spokesperson Sheikh Waqas Akram stated that conditions were difficult at the time, both before and after the conviction.

As rumors grow and official silence continues, the international community is closely watching how Pakistani officials respond to calls for increased transparency regarding Khan’s situation and legal status.
