Pakistan To Review Security Situation In India Before Sending Hockey Team For Asia Cup, WC

Karachi: Pakistan is preparing to review the security situation in India before calling to send the National Hockey team to the neighboring country for the closer Asian Cup and Junior World Cup this year.

A senior government official said that if they have security threats, the national team would not be sent to India.

Rana Mashood, the head of the Prime Minister Youth Development and Sports Program, said Pakistan would go to India for tournaments if the government is completely satisfied with the security situation.

“The government will review the security situation in India for Pakistani citizens, and if it is not satisfied, it will not risk any player by sending them to play in India.” He said.

He said that after India’s Sindoor operation, Pakistani citizens were not safe for traveling to India.

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) asked the relevant ministries to advise the relevant ministries to send national teams for two major hockey events in India with the next month’s Asian Cup.

PHF Secretary General Rana Mujahid admitted that Pakistan has participated in some international events in India in the past.

“But from now on, the situation is different, relations are stretched, so that we can only move forward when the government allows us.” He said.

PHF drew attention to the fact that Hockey team players followed threats on social media.
