Pam Bondi blasts ‘failed journalist’ Don Lemon over Minnesota church storming

Attorney General Pam Bondi criticized former CNN host Don Lemon on “Hannity” Monday for defending his “illegal” actions at an anti-ICE protest at a Minnesota church as an “act of journalism.”
“So then, anyone with a camera would be allowed to have it under their jurisdiction. [Lemon’s] “The theory is to go in on a Sunday morning and attack a church and start a riot in the church,” he said.
“You can’t do that in this country. It’s illegal, we’ll sue you and you’ll be held responsible. It doesn’t matter if you’re a failed journalist with a camera in your hand. You can’t do that.”
Bondi’s remarks come after two more people were arrested Monday in connection with the occupation of a church in Minnesota by anti-ICE protesters.

“These people have committed a crime under the FACE Act and will be held accountable,” he explained. “Nine of them have been charged, and you will not do this in our country. If you do, we will come after you.”
On January 18, hundreds of anti-ICE demonstrators marched in St. Louis, protesting against a pastor they accused of aiding the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement efforts in Minnesota. disrupted a church service in St. Paul, Minn.
Bondi described the incident as an “assault-style” bombardment of a place of worship and detailed how a woman was injured in the incident.

“There were children crying, there were parents being prevented from going upstairs to pick up their children from Sunday school,” he said. “A group of women ran out the side door. Several people fell on the ice. One woman severely damaged her arm and had to go to hospital.”
“These parishioners thought they were going to get shot,” Bondi added.

The attorney general claimed that the incident was carried out by a “resistance operation” in which Lemon was involved.

““While people were attending this church service, they met up in a parking lot about two miles away. They were caravanning to this church to conduct an assault-style infiltration of a church service on a Sunday morning,” Bondi told host Sean Hannity.
He also accused Lemon of physically preventing a congregation member from leaving the church.
According to the indictment, all nine people are accused of interfering with the freedom of worship of others under the Freedom of Access to Clinical Entrances (FACE) Act, which protects the right to worship freely in places of worship.

Lemon vehemently denied the indictment, saying his participation in the protest was an “act of journalism” and explained that he was merely covering the event rather than participating.
“Damn whoever you think you’re going to stop me from reporting. If you think you’re going to stop me from reporting, I’m going to f— off,” Lemon he said on Instagram on Monday.

“I am a journalist through and through,” he continued.

All nine people charged in the case have been arrested, and Bondi said the Justice Department will continue to prioritize the protection of places of worship.
“We live in the United States, and you will have the right to worship safely and freely in a house of worship,” he said. “Whether it is a church, a synagogue, a temple, a mosque, any place of worship in this country, you will be safe.”
