Parents cautiously welcome changes to childcare checks

16 August 2025 03:30 | News

Parents and trade unions welcomed the recovery of children and employees in a cautious manner, but more reforms are needed to keep children safe.

The rapidly monitored reforms announced on Friday will ensure that anyone who prevents a traction working with children in a state or region until the end of the year will be automatically prohibited throughout the country.

Attorney General Michelle Rowland described the change as “delayed ,, but confirmed that a national study with children was not on cards and continued to manage judicial powers systems.

Australia’s highest early learning organ said that aligning with children around the country will help protect children in care.

“This is an important step that closes the existing gaps at the moment, Pa said Paul Mondo, President of the Australian Child Care Alliance.

“However, this step requires more commitment, including the development of a national record for early childhood educators and teachers.”

National Children’s Commissioner Anne Hollonds described the changes as a great relief by saying that they would definitely make a difference in the safety of children ”.

“This is the only first step of a series of actions to be taken,” he said on Friday.

The changes come almost a month after the eight children of Melbourne worker Joshua Dale Brown were allegedly sexually harassing sexual harassment.

It is known that Brown has worked at 24 facilities between 2017 and arrest time.

Melody Gliister’s daughter was one of the 1200 children who needed to be tested for sexually transmitted infections in July after joining a child care center where Brown worked.

He was shocked when he discovered the mutual recognition of decisions about the work of children and employees.

“This doesn’t make sense, Glar Glaister Aap said.

“The child care sector needs a confusion and reform and major changes.

“We can’t trust that the system is safe for our children.”

On Friday, the Minister of Education Jason Clare announced in July that a harmony against the 30 early childhood centers under laws adopted by the Federal Parliament was initiated.

Under changes, financing will be removed from centers that do not meet the safety standards.

The country’s education ministers will be gathered next week to take into account more child safety laws.

Jen Fleming, the founding partner of the advocacy group for parents, said that parents need a chair at the reform desk.

“Parents enter children care centers every day in this country and leave their most valuable people with child care workers,” Fleming AAP said.

“As parents, we rightly question what is going wrong in the system… They did not consult parents.”
