Parliament Budget Session Day 11 LIVE: Lok Sabha to present reports, discuss Labour Law Amendment Bill

Opposition MPs to protest US trade deal in Parliament, Congress’ Manish Tewari moves adjournment motion
Opposition MPs will protest outside Makar Dwar on Thursday. The protest was held against so-called “anti-people” clauses of the Indo-US trade deal and expressed solidarity with farmers calling for the All India Bandh.
Meanwhile, Congress MP Manish Tewari moved an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha on Thursday to discuss “important issues”, including the India-US interim trade agreement and the joint statement.
According to the adjournment motion, Mr Tewari demanded an immediate clarification from the government on the issue, claiming that the India-US joint statement on the interim trade agreement contained commitments regarding Russian oil purchases and agricultural concessions. He said such steps would raise questions regarding India’s energy security, farmers’ interests and strategic autonomy.
Manish Tewari said, “I hereby declare my intention to seek permission to advance a motion to adjourn the business of the House for the purpose of discussing a specific matter of urgent importance, namely: – I move that this House suspend Question Hour, Zero Hour, and all listed business of the day to address the serious concerns arising from the US-India Joint Statement on the Interim Trade Agreement and the recent Executive Order of the White House.” he said.
