AAP MP Sanjay Singh seeks discussion on ‘LPG shortage’ by filing 267 notices in Rajya Sabha
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh moved a motion notice under Rule 267 in the Rajya Sabha on Friday, March 13, 2026, seeking to suspend daily business to discuss the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) shortage, rising commercial gas prices and its impact on the hospitality sector.
Citing “ongoing war and geopolitical tensions in West Asia”, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, Mr Singh argued that India’s energy security faces major disruptions.
The statement said, “India is facing serious disruptions in LPG supply due to the increasing tension in the Strait of Hormuz. Approximately 85-90 percent of India’s LPG imports pass through this route. India is the world’s second largest LPG importer with an annual consumption of over 31 million tons, and approximately 67 percent of the demand is met by imports.”
