Parties Explore Tactical Tie-Ups For Municipal Elections

Adilabad: As municipal elections approach, major political parties are exploring tactical alliances at the local level to strengthen their prospects, especially in the closely contested districts of Adilabad municipality.

Sources said leaders of rival parties are holding secret meetings in selected areas to seek indirect support. Some candidates are also reaching out to smaller parties like Jana Sena, Aam Aadmi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and YSR Congress to boost their electoral chances.

A large number of nominations were made by candidates from the Indian National Congress, Bharat Rashtra Samithi and the Bharatiya Janata Party. Party leaders reportedly persuaded some candidates to withdraw their candidacies to prevent rebel candidates from entering the fray and splitting the vote.

While the Congress is trying to get the support of the Communist Party of India, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, the BRS is also exploring possible support from the Left parties.

Meanwhile, the Mancherial Municipal Corporation is witnessing its first elections after its formation. Mancherial MLA K. Premsagar Rao appealed to voters to elect Congress candidates in all 60 divisions, citing development work done in the last two years.

He said his ill health would not hinder his development initiatives and expressed confidence that he would receive support from both the state and central government. He also announced plans to establish an industrial park and turn Mancherial into a health and education hub.

In Adilabad municipality, leaders who were hesitant about taking the party’s B-Forms have joined the All India Forward Bloc and are contesting under the leadership of Rangineni Manisha, who recently quit BRS.

According to official sources, 635 candidates filed 769 nominations for 49 wards in Adilabad municipality. Of these, 268 are from Congress, 136 from BRS, 124 from BJP and 118 from independent candidates.
