People in the public gallery at Liverpool Crown Court, where Paul Doyle’s sentencing hearing was held, burst into tears and audibly gasped after “truly shocking” dashcam footage was shown. Paul Doyle was “starting to lose his temper” when he came across a line of people walking on the road after the end of the Liverpool FC celebrations.
Dashcam footage played at the field showed Doyle allowing his car to weave through dense crowds and continue along Dale Street. People can be heard banging on his car to protest him, but Doyle accelerates and honks his horn.
Children are seen jumping out of his path. Doyle can be heard saying “damn it” as he walks through the crowd. He then comes to a series of traffic cones and stops. He says “fucking asshole” again, as the crowd responds with chants of “f*ck”.
The footage shows Doyle slightly turning over and then shouting “fucking head, fucking asshole”. The camera shows Doyle speeding toward Water Street and hitting a man who rolled over the hood.
Half a dozen people are thrown to the ground, but Doyle continues to shout: “Damn move, get out of the way, damn hell. Damn move, get out of the way, damn hell.”
A child is seen being thrown to the ground after being hit by a car.
He yells again: “Get out of the damn way. Move. Move. Move.”
A woman appeared to be trapped under the front of the car, but Doyle continued forward.
