Pennyweight Winery, Beechworth – The Age Good Food app listing
Just a few clicks away from the high street, Pennyweight has been the epitome of excellence in Victoria’s apera drinking community for over four decades. The basement door is dreamy: a cottage surrounded by towering gums, open 362 days a year for tastings and grazing plates. Constance Finos appear on drinks lists all over Victoria – the sign of a sommelier who knows his juices – but you’d go mad if you left without a bottle of their Rutherglen Muscat, which is said to “slide down the esophagus like the devil in velvet trousers”.
