Patanjali-Dabur legal wrangle: Delhi HC orders Baba Ramdev’s company to modify chyawanprash ad targeting rival
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court of Delhi ordered Patanjali to remove certain parts of Dabur’s alleged advertisement allegedly underestimated by Chyawanprash.
The decision of the counter came after Patanjali’s objection to a previous Supreme Court decision that restricts the company’s direct or indirectly targeting ads targeting Dabur Chyawanprash.
In his petition, Patanjali claimed that his ad did not refer to Dabur in front of the court, PTI notified.
Supreme Court Decision
A counter of Hari Shankar and Om Prakash Shukla decided that Patanjali should “settle for ordinary Chyawanprash”, but the next part should be made with 40 plants ”.
If the bench, 40 plant references are removed, the remaining explanation “Why would he agree to ordinary Chyawanprash?” ‘Puffy’, a company that is allowed to exceed the quality of a company’s own product.
Judges, Patanjali’s advertisement to describe Dabur “ordinary” the word did not believe that they do not believe. “It is not a prescription medicine, we are dealing with Chyawanprash. If someone says ordinary for a cancer drug, perhaps a serious issue. But Chyawanprash is used by many people … ‘I’m the best and others are not as good as I do,’ he said.
Starting ban in advertising
This decision was to change a previous order by a single judge in July. The judge directed Patanjali to delete the first two lines of advertisements after a petition was opened by Dabur India Limited. Two lines:
- “Why do you agree with ordinary Chyawanprash made with 40 plants?”
- “Jinko Ayurved aur Vedo Ka Gyaan Nahi, Orient, Sushrut, Dhavantri Aur Chyawanrishi Ki Parampara Ke Anuroop, Original Chyawanprash Kaise Payenge?”
Patanjali’s lawyer on Tuesday reported that the company would remove the reference of “40 herbs” on the bench, and “ordinary Chyawanprash urged to advertise to the extent he said. PTI notified.
