The Prince of Wales issued a surprise message to the England team this evening after winning their World Cup match against the Democratic Republic of Congo on Wednesday. Prince William, who did not attend the match in person, posted the following on social media: “Make no mistake about it (winking face emoji). Well done England! Next up is “W.”
Prince William is a huge football fan and probably watched the match at home. Like the rest of England, he probably felt nervous as he watched England trail 1-0 at half-time. However, this was reversed in the second half when Harry Kane scored not one but two goals.
It is unknown whether William will fly to America to watch any World Cup matches in person.
He has always been a big supporter of England in the World Cup and European tournaments.
He was accompanied by his eldest son, Prince George, at many Aston Villa matches.
England next play against Mexico on Monday at 1am UK time.
It is unknown whether William will stay up late to watch the match, as many in England plan to do.
