‘People that are against are FOOLS’

President Donald Trump defended his tariff policy on Sunday, calling those who oppose the measure “idiots” and claiming that tariffs have made the United States “the richest, most respected country in the world with virtually no inflation.” He also said that “everyone will be paid dividends of at least $2,000 per person (except high-income people!)” from tariff revenues.

“People who oppose tariffs are STUPID!” In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that the United States “has become the richest, most respected country in the world, with virtually no inflation and record stock market prices.” 401k is the highest ever.

He claimed the US was “taking trillions of dollars” from tariffs and said this would allow the US to “start paying off our massive $37 trillion debt soon.”

Trump added that record investments were flowing into the country, with “factories and factories increasing everywhere,” and also stated that “everyone will be paid dividends of at least $2,000 per person (except high-income people!),” though no further details were given about the proposed payment.

The comments came just days after the U.S. Supreme Court began deliberating on global tariffs imposed during Trump’s presidency on Nov. 6, highlighting ongoing legal scrutiny of policies Trump has advocated.

CNN reported that the case is seen as one of the most important economic cases to reach the Supreme Court, where the justices are considering whether the US President acted lawfully when imposing sweeping tariffs on major global trading partners.

During the hearing, Trump’s lawyer faced deep skepticism from several justices, including Amy Coney Barrett, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh. Judge Barrett questioned the administration’s use of federal law to impose higher tariffs and objected to why entire countries were subject to “reciprocal” tariffs.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent was also present at the meeting and emphasized that the administration sees the situation as an economic emergency.

Earlier this week, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the administration was prepared for any consequences but was confident in its legal position.

“We are 100% confident in the legal arguments of the President and his team and the merits of the law in this case. We are optimistic that the Supreme Court will do the right thing.” he said, adding that the case extends beyond Trump’s presidency and concerns the use of emergency tariff powers for future administrations.
