Person goes overboard on Clyde ferry with major search operation underway

A person fell into the sea from a ferry in Clyde Firth.

A search between Dunoon and Gourock in the afternoon on Sunday continues.

A HM Coast Guard helicopter was sent next to a RNN lifeguard boat.

Calmac said MV Ali Cat Ship also helped to search.

The person fell from a western ferry ship.

Hm Coast Guard spokesman said: “HM Coast Guard responds to the reports of a person between Hunter’s Quay and the Gourock region in Scotland.

“A HM Coast Guard Search and Rescue Helicopter, Helensburgh and Largs in addition to the Rnli Cankurtaran boots, Largs and Dunoon’dan coastal security rescue teams were tasked with a search.

“Nearby ships were called to help. Police Scotland and Scottish ambulance service are continuing.

“The situation continues.”
